Positive Knowledge

Comprised of users Oluyemi Thomas (bass clarinet, sax, flute), Ijeoma Thomas (vocals), Bruce Eisenbeil (guitar), Wilbur Morris (bass), and Michael Wimberly (drums), the Oakland, California-based Positive Knowledge is usually a jazz-fusion outfit that released several released through the past due ’90s. The majority of its users’ titles may sound familiar to present day jazz buffs, as they are involved in several other tasks (the group’s innovator, Thomas, was once quoted in the English publication ‘The Wire’ to be “among North America’s preeminent bass clarinetists”). Thomas can be a published writer/poet that has released releases around the Music & Arts label (the same label that problems Positive Knowledge’s recordings). Additionally, Eisenbeil offers released several albums by himself (plus using countless others), Morris offers recorded with famous brands David Murray, Ken McIntyre, Borah Bergman, and Rashied Ali, while Wimberly offers documented/toured with Steve Coleman, David Murray, and Charles Gayle, plus rock and roll performers Henry Rollins, Mickey Hart, and Vernon Reid. Positive Understanding has released a set of albums so far, 1995’s Another Day’s Trip and 1996’s Invocation #9.
