The post-grunge emo outfit Pop Unknown hailed from Austin, TX, and had a hearty pop sound. Made up of Tim Lasater (vocals/electric guitar), Gabe Wiley (drums), Joel Ganucheau (electric guitar), Matt Breedlove (electric guitar), and Casper Echols (bass), Pop Unidentified released their debut EP, SUMMER MONTHS Kills, on Deep Elm in 1999. They toured with famous brands Pedro the Lion, Jimmy Eat Globe, and the GET RIGHT UP Kids and designed a strong, restricted device. In 1999, Pop Unidentified released their initial studio room full-length, If Arsenic Fails, Try Algebra. The August Department followed 3 years later. Sooner or later, members started a side task known as Kissing Chaos, which ultimately became a full-time gig in the summertime of 2002, successfully ending Pop Unidentified.
