Poor Moon

Created in 2008, Poor Moon started like a long-distance collaboration between Fleet Foxes/Crystal Skulls players Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott and brothers Ian and Peter Murray from Bay Region band the Xmas Cards. Following preliminary songwriting periods, the band performed several displays at Seattle region house parties, often using different brands. When they started playing larger displays, they resolved on Poor Moon as their moniker, extracted from a tune by Canned High temperature. Recording ensued within a piecemeal style in a variety of bedroom studios over another several years. The medial side project was slow to create, as its roots began at exactly the same time as Fleet Foxes rise to fame, and Wargo and Wescott were focused on many years of touring while Poor Moon sat dormant. In early 2012, a five-song EP entitled Illusion, released by Sup Pop, proclaimed the band’s debut. The band’s self-titled complete length found its way to the late summertime from the same year.
