Documenting for the Cookin’ offshoot of LTJ Bukem’s Searching Good/Good Looking Reports, Poets of Idea (really just one guy, Paul Hunter) brought the audio of jazzy hip-hop towards the Uk drum’n’bass picture, with recordings mostly free from breakbeats in any way. Given an opportunity to glow on Bukem’s past due-1996 compilation Globe, Vol. 1, Hunter responded with two different tracks, one a bit of blunted hip-hop and another a amazingly accurate interpretation of ’60s Latin-tinged soul-jazz.
