Pocahaunted

Founded being a willfully naïve improv duo in 2006 by Amanda Brown and Bethany Cosentino and issuing nearly 25 produces within their first 3 years of existence, Pocahaunted constructed a sound from shambolic drifts, drifting half-remembered funk grooves, and liberal usage of dub-like reverb. Founded in LA after Brown acquired a wish that she and Cosentino began a band known as Pocahaunted, the duo was close to the center from the Western world Coast psychedelic picture, in large component due to its affiliation with Brown’s Not really Not really Fun Information, founded a calendar year before Pocahaunted. Though eventually woozy and slathered in echo, tempo was a significant area of the duo’s first produces. Improvising around principles and pre-chosen game titles, Dark brown and Cosentino transferred between “Pocahaunted will Tom Tom Membership” (2008’s Stores) to “dark raga” (2009’s Passing) and “tribal spirit” (2008’s Reflection Mics). There is also a reliable blast of cassette-only ephemera, including 2006’s The actual Spirit INFORMS ME and 2009’s Yellow metal Miner’s Daughter. From the Cable magazine-dubbed “hypnogagic pop” of Emeralds, Ducktails, and Sunlight Araw — a lot of whom released discs on Not really Not really Fun — Pocahaunted’s half-songs and drone-happy ethos easily fit into perfectly. This year 2010, Cosentino remaining the band to wait college in NY (where she founded Greatest Coast). Brown came back having a reconfigured Pocahaunted quartet, including spouse Britt Dark brown on guitar. The brand new Pocahaunted continuing on logically through the duo improvisations, using a lot of the same vocabulary, but solidifying it into even more proper tracks, with areas, audible lyrics, as well as refrains.
