Pietro De Maria

Pietro De Maria can be an Italian pianist. Elevated in Venice, De Maria was a piano pupil of Giorgio Vianello and Gino Gorini. At age 13, he gained first prize on the Alfred Cortot International Piano Competition in Milan. He went to the Conservatory of Venice, and in 1988, as students of Maria Tipo on the Conservatory of Geneva, he received the Top Prix de Virtuosité with highest honors. Champion from the Critics’ Reward in the 1990 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, De Maria continued to win additional international competitions, like the Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Pianisti “Dino Ciani” in the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Concours Géza Anda in Zurich, as well as the Mendelssohn Honor in Hamburg.
