Philippe Rogier

Philippe Rogier was the last Franco-Flemish author of the renaissance to serve in the Spanish courtroom. He was created in Arras around 1560; 1st reference to him isn’t until 1572 when he was recruited like a choir young man into the support of Spanish monarch Philip II. No known information stay of his education, but as he authorized himself as “sacerdos” in his magazines, one must conclude that he previously been ordained like a priest. In his will, Rogier produced provision for the publication of five public, which his helper Géry de Ghersem undertook in 1599; another three endure, along with 25 motets and a small amount of other works. Almost all Rogier’s result was kept in the library of John IV of Portugal, that was destroyed through the Lisbon earthquake of 1755.
