Triggering a MIDI synthesizer along with his guitar, usually a Fender Telecaster, Philippe Caillat requires a harmonious, deeply personal, method of improvisational jazz. Classically qualified and completely schooled in Western music, he skillfully weaves a distinctive blend of traditional, jazz, avant-garde, and globe music affects. A indigenous of Paris, Caillat grew up in Montpelier in southern France. Surviving in Germany for pretty much three years, he has trained in the jazz academy in Dortmund since 1997.
