Philipp Jakob Riotte

This German opera composer studied with Anton Andre and made appearances in both capacities by 1804. He offered in Gotha like a music movie director and in Danzig and Magdeburg. He carried out French opera in Erfurt and became energetic in Vienna from 1818, especially at the Theater an der Wein. He loved achievement with every idiom that he made up but his operas had been the most effective. More than fifty different singspiels had been created on five different theatrical phases in Vienna. Among Riotte’s functions had been “Der Berggeist,” “Die Wildschutzen,” “Die Zaubernelke,” “Das Grandstadtchen,” and “Nurredin, Prinz von Persien.”
