Phil Seamen

b. Philip William Seamen, 28 August 1928, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, Britain, d. 13 Oct 1972, London, Britain. Seamen first fascinated interest when he performed drums with post-war United kingdom dance rings, including those led by Nat Gonella and Joe Reduction. By the first 50s he was an integral shape in the nascent London bop picture, dealing with Ronnie Scott, Tubby Hayes, Joe Harriott and various other leading musicians. Afterwards in the 10 years he documented with Stan Tracey, on Small Klunk (1959) and the next season with Harriott, for the saxophonist’s Totally free Form. In the first 60s Seamen attempted his submit blues rings, including those of Georgie Popularity and Alexis Korner. In the past due 60s he was back again with Scott but also performed in rock rings, including Air Power that was led by one of is own college students, Ginger Baker.
