Hip-hop multi-instrumentalist Phil Crumar was created and raised in Washington, D.C., where he was influenced by go-go organizations like Problems Funk. Once he got his first drum package (bought with insurance cash from a summer season camp open fire that burned most of his clothes), Crumar patterned himself after his preferred go-go drummers and started incorporating other noises and designs into his music. After he shifted to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, Crumar began documenting four-track demos of himself playing bass, acoustic guitar, and keyboards; ultimately these demos produced their method to Asphodel Information, which released his debut EP, SINCE IT Goes — offering scratching by Rob Swift — in springtime 2000. Phil Crumar Feels It’s Great was issued later on that fall.
