Peter Kooij

Peter Kooij is a bass vocalist whose concentrate has primarily been on functions in the Baroque era, specially the cantatas and Passions of J.S. Bach. Kooij (also Kooy) was created on Sept 17, 1954, in Soest, Holland. He exhibited musical skill in his early youth and by age group six was performing treble within a choir led by his dad. His attractive tone of voice drew interest and shortly he was showing up in concerts and on recordings. Despite his vocal proclivities his initial serious music research were over the violin, and he ultimately signed up for the Utrecht Conservatory to go after advanced training over the device. In 1977, nevertheless, he got into Amsterdam’s Sweelinck Conservatory, where he examined voice with Potential von Egmond. He graduated in 1980 in the Conservatory and shortly established his profession being a bass vocalist.
