Peter Delano

Pianist Peter Delano was a kid prodigy, and did nothing at all to disprove that label. Affected by Thelonious Monk, McCoy Tyner and Keith Jarrett, Delano was influenced to try out jazz his personal way at a age group. He was briefly an associate from the pop-rap group Digable Planets, and examined with Garry Dial, who at that time was an associate of Crimson Rodney’s group, and was endorsed by Rodney and writer Ira Gitler. In 1993 he graduated in the Collegiate SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Manhattan with age group 17 was uncovered by Man Eckstine, son from the renowned big-band head and vocalist Billy Eckstine. Younger Eckstine was instrumental to advertise the fledgling pianist, and Delano released his eponymously entitled debut record for the Verve label in 1993. He had taken classes and graduated from THE BRAND NEW School, then started research at Columbia School. Delano sidestepped functioning full-time within the music business while creating a second work Bite from the Apple for Verve in 1994. Very quickly frame, a number of the prominent jazz performers he produced alliances in NEW YORK with included Michael Brecker, Gary Bartz, Chris Potter, Craig Handy, Dick Oatts, Tim Hagans, Joe Locke, Ray Mantilla, Eddie Gomez, Tomas Ulrich, Gary Peacock, Adam Nussbaum, Victor Lewis, and Joe Chambers. He also had taken time from research playing being a sideman using the touring and documenting ensembles of Tag Whitfield and Dewey Redman. In 2004, Delano experienced a spinal damage that affected his remaining foot, making it paralyzed. A crisis surgery set the immediate issue, but jeopardized his carrying out career. Confronted with an extended treatment, Delano did gradually heal more than a three yr period. He was back again on the path to a complete recovery and steadily came back to jazz. The Sunnyside label documenting For Dewey that he do with Redman in 1998 was released in 2008 after Redman passed on.
