Peter Appleyard

A versatile vibraphonist with the capacity of carrying out close music and verbal imitations of Lionel Hampton, Crimson Norvo, Milt Jackson, and Terry Gibbs, Peter Appleyard is an excellent swing participant. His wide-ranging profession included playing drums in British dance bands, an interval spent surviving in Bermuda (before settling in Canada in 1951), along with a active career within the studios. He was with Calvin Jackson’s quartet within the middle-’50s, toured with Benny Goodman in the first ’70s, and hosted a musical tv series in Canada during 1977-1979 (Peter Appleyard Presents). Appleyard, that has made an appearance at many celebrations over time, provides led his very own record schedules since 1956, including pieces for Canadian RCA, Sound Fidelity, Dauntless, and two 1990 albums for Concord.
