Peta Teanet

In Apr 1996, Billboard Newspaper cited Soweto-born vocalist Peta Teanet as you of “Southern Africa’s artists to view.” Powered by an infectious disco defeat and a sensuous feminine choir that included upcoming solo musician MaLindi, Teanet acquired successfully mixed the metropolitan, bubblegum, pop music of South Africa with uplifting lyrics that he sang in his indigenous Tsonga vocabulary. Touring throughout South Africa, he previously become among the country’s best-selling performers with such strikes as “Cina Ndoda,” “Harm,” and “I REALLY LIKE You Africa.” Two months afterwards, Teanet was inactive — shot and wiped out with a policeman during a disagreement, placing a tragic end to his reign as “ruler of Shangaan disco.” He was recalled by www.digitalcupboard.co.za as “a more substantial than life amount — the epitome of burning up out instead of fading away.” Pursuing Teanet’s loss of life, his sibling, Forsta Teanet, assumed his function as a vocalist and bandleader. MaLindi released her debut single album, Towards the Defeat Yo!, in 2000.
