Pet Genius

In 2006, the people from the alt-metal band Cave In announced that these were taking a protracted hiatus to explore various other projects, and Family pet Genius was the initial brand-new band to emerge through the group’s account. Featuring Cave In alumni Stephen Brodsky (billed as Range Best Bredsky) and J.R. Conners (as JR John Junior) on electric guitar and drums, Family pet Genius also contains Johnny Northrup (aka Johnny Coolbreeze) from the Octave Museum, Clouds and Hydronaut on bass. Playing music that’s large, fuzzy, playful, and melodic all at one time, using a poppy garage area rock and roll undertow one may not anticipate given the performers’ previous function, Pet Genius documented their debut documenting, a three-song EP entitled Elvis Unreleased, on the four-track cassette machine and released the leads to Sept 2007 through the impartial Hydra Head Information label (through a lot of the tunes were posted free of charge around the group’s MySpace web page). Family pet Genius’ self-titled full-length recording, recorded under even more technically exacting conditions, was released per month later.
