Persephone’s Bees

Led by Russian singer/songwriter/keyboardist Angelina Moysov, Persephone’s Bees (a name that originates from a poem by Russian poet Osip Mandelstam) got its beginnings immediately after Moysov shifted to america and fulfilled guitarist Tom Ayres in 1993. Both began collaborating, sketching from Moysov’s years as a child affects of Russian folk, Gypsy music, her brother’s assortment of English and American music, fresh influx, and underground Russian punk. Following the duo experienced several unsuccessful tempo sections, they shifted to the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Bay Region in 1999. There they produced a demonstration and utilized it to recruit bassist Bart Davenport and drummer Paul Bertolino. Pursuing City of Like, a self-produced LP, Persephone’s Bees discovered themselves on expenses with Wedding cake and Jonathan Richman, as the name track was put into the soundtrack for the film Bewitched in 2005. Both Bertolino and Davenport got left the music group temporarily to spotlight other tasks, but ultimately rejoined with time for Persephone’s Bees’ full-length major-label debut record, Records in the Underworld, released by Columbia Information in August 2006.
