Perry Robinson

Throughout his career, Perry Robinson has sought to accomplish the near-impossible: establish himself as an avant-garde leader on a musical instrument still closely from the swing era. After intensive formal research (like the Lenox College of Jazz in 1959), Robinson used such advanced music artists as Paul Bley, Archie Shepp, and Costs Dixon. He was with Roswell Rudd’s quintet in 1968, made an appearance on several functions by the Jazz Composers’ Orchestra, and in 1972 caused Gunter Hampel. Within a change of speed, Robinson was with Dave Brubeck’s Two Years of Brubeck music group in 1973, but afterward he continuing recording and executing avant-garde jazz.
