Péricles Cavalcanti

Having been elevated in São Paulo, Péricles Cavalcanti relocated to London, Britain, and Paris, France, in the past due ’60s and the first ’70s, where he began to create tunes; the first one was documented in 1973 by Gal Costa, “Quem Nasceu?” Since that time he has already established his compositions documented by Caetano Veloso, Arnaldo Antunes, Arrigo Barnabé, Cássia Eller, Simone, Adriana Calcanhoto, Lulu Santos, Fafá de Belém, among others. His biggest strike is usually “Elegia,” a structure on the poem Elegy: Going to sleep from the British poet John Donne (1572-1631), translated and modified from the concrete poet Augusto de Campos. Documented effectively by Caetano Veloso, “Elegia” was documented consequently by Simone. Cavalcanti also experienced a big strike with “Negro Amor,” his and Caetano Veloso’s edition for Bob Dylan’s “It’s AROUND Right now, Baby Blue.” In 1991, he released Cançõsera, with the involvement of Caetano Veloso and Lulu Santos; the recording brought him the very best Composer prize from your Association of Artwork Critics of São Paulo (APCA). Having created several tunes with Arnaldo Antunes, in 1993 he participated in Antunes’ Nome, which two tunes were recorded from the duo of intellectual poets, “Imagem” and “Entre.” Cavalcanti also had written the soundtrack of Susana Moraes’ film Mil e Uma.
