The brand new wave-influenced ensemble Performance — sometimes billed as (We Are) Performance — make catchy, ’80s inspired pop using a dance-rock bent. Produced in Manchester in 2005, the music group features lead vocalist Joe Stretch out, guitarist/vocalist Laura Marsden, drummer Joe Combination, and keyboardist Hilary Marsden. The music group originally agreed upon to Polydor before label problems forced a finish towards the record offer, and the band transformed its name to (We Are) Functionality and released their self-titled full-length debut on AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF Details in 2007. After marketing the record, the bandmembers made a decision to pursue various other personal interests producing a two-year hiatus. During this time period, Stretch released two books, including Friction in 2008 and Animals in ’09 2009. Also during this time period, bandmembers Laura Marsden and Combination formed the music group Kiss in Metropolitan areas, and Cross discovered production use the similarly willing Mancunian music group Hurts. When the music group finally reconvened, it had been without Hilary Marsden, who acquired didn’t return. This year 2010, the music group reverted towards the name of Functionality and released its sophomore record, Red Brick Center.
