Percy Strother

For a feeling from the blues at its most tangible, one must search no further than singer/guitarist Percy Strother, who triumphed over incredible tragedy to generate music of real pain and sorrow. Delivered July 23, 1946 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, he was still a kid when his dad passed away violently; his mom passed away quickly afterward, and instead of submitting alive within an orphanage, Strother basically took to the street. He drifted from work to job for several years, even while fighting a struggle with alcoholism; finding the blues converted his lifestyle around, nevertheless, and after sobering up he started teaching himself electric guitar, honing his chops in digital anonymity before documenting his debut LP AN EXCELLENT Woman Is Difficult to find in 1992. The Highway Can be My Home implemented in 1995, and in 1997 Strother came back with It’s My Period. He toured European countries many times and documented Home finally there, which noticed discharge in 2001. A tale in his followed house of Minneapolis, Percy Strother was identified as having liver cancers and passed on Might 29, 2005.
