Pepe Vásquez

Child of musician and researcher Porfirio Vásquez, vocalist/songwriter Pepe Vásquez started performing and playing acoustic guitar at an extremely young age, executing a folk genre started in dark Peruvian areas to keep their history. After going to Lima’s Conservatory of Music, Pepe Vásquez became probably one of the most well-known local performers, creating his personal style by merging Afro-Peruvian and Caribbean rhythms. He produced his worldwide debut using the launch of Ritmo de Negros in November 2000.
