Pentaèdre

Pentaèdre is a Canadian chamber outfit, called after a pentahedron or a five-sided geometric form. Produced in 1985, the ensemble uses the typical instrumentation of the woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn), though each participant doubles on related equipment, and jointly they create a far more mixed audio than that anticipated of a little chamber group. While a lot of Pentaèdre’s repertoire is certainly standard traditional music, experimental functions show the ensemble’s flexibility and curiosity about executing across disciplines with performers, dancers, stars, and mimes. Their shows have got included a chamber edition of Schubert’s melody routine Die Winterreise with tenor Christoph Prégardien, a staged display of John Metcalf’s opera A Seat in Appreciate, and L’amour est el opéra muet using the mime troupe Omnibus. The ensemble in addition has performed with vocalists Rufus Muller, Russell Braun, Phillip Addis, and Karina Gauvin, and pianists Naida Cole, David Jalbert, and Iwan Llewelyn-Jones. Pentaèdre in addition has recorded quintet agreements of Stravinsky’s Rite of Springtime and Mussorgsky’s Images at an Exhibition in the ATMA Classique label. Pentaèdre are performers in residence on the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
