The secretive instrumental artwork metal clothing Pelican was formed in Chicago by guitarists Trevor de Brauw and Laurent Lebec, in addition to bassist Larry Herweg and his sibling drummer, Bryan. Owing an excellent personal debt to pioneering forefathers Neurosis and frequently in comparison to Boston’s Isis, Pelican coincidentally also discovered a house at Isis mastermind Aaron Turner’s Hydra Mind Records. After producing their debut with an eponymous four-song EP in 2003, Pelican extended their epic, otherworldly trance-metal with 2003’s critically acclaimed Australasia, adopted in 2004 from the Fire inside our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw. After weighty touring, the quartet required a much-deserved break. They came back to the studio room in 2006 and released Town of Echoes in June 2007, accompanied by the live Compact disc/DVD Following the Ceiling Cracked later on that Dec. What MOST OF US Come to Require, the band’s 4th studio room effort, appeared in ’09 2009. While an EP, Ataraxia/Taraxis, found its way to 2012, that 12 months would start to see the departure of Laurent Lebec, who was simply changed by touring guitarist Dallas Thomas. Transporting on with a fresh lineup, the music group released their 5th full-length, Forever Getting, in 2013. In 2015, Pelican released the Cliff EP. It presented the album songs in four different variations, including remixes from Justin Broadrick, Aaron Harris, and Bryant Clifford Meyer. In addition, it included a vocal edition offering Allen Epley along with a previously unreleased monitor, the semi-acoustic “The Wait around.”
