Biography

The original music of Scotland is combined with hard-edged funk, deep dub reggae, and contemporary jazz influences from the Peatbog Faeries. In line with the Isle of Skye, from the northwest coastline of Scotland, the initial lineup from the music group comprised Peter Morrison (bagpipes, whistle), Ben Ivitsky (fiddle), Ali Penthland (acoustic guitar, keyboards), Innes Hutton (bass, bodhrán), and Iain Copeland (drums); they officially came collectively in 1994, however the members have been playing collectively since childhood. Over time the music group’s lineup underwent several adjustments and by 2012 it presented Morrison and Hutton alongside Peter Tickell (fiddle), Tom Salter (acoustic guitar), Graeme Stafford (keyboards) and Stu Haikney (drums). Making use of their 1996 debut recording, Mellowosity, the group surfaced among the funkiest tradition-rooted rings in Scotland. Their 1st two albums arrived on the favorite Scottish trad label Greentrax, but also for their third recording the music group chose to proceed it alone, establishing their very own label, which all their following albums had been released. With each fresh recording their recognition grew even while they incorporated even more new elements to their audio – from dub, funk, alternate rock and roll and jazz to ambient electronica components similar to Ozric Tentacles as well as the Orb, and globe music affects from as significantly afield as Africa and South Asia. Their eclectic audio gained them a dedicated fanbase across European countries and beyond, and resulted in several high-profile live looks, notably at Glastonbury and Womad, and awards, including two for greatest live act in the Scottish Traditional Folk Honours. Their loudly-lauded, enthusiastic live display was captured for posterity on the 2009 record Live, and their 6th studio record, Dirt, released in 2011, noticed the music group return relatively to a far more ambient audio.
