Paul Warmack & His Gully Jumpers

Biography

Among the Grand Ole Opry’s initial string bands, it all comprised Paul Warmack (b. 16 August 1889, Whites Creek, Tennessee, USA, d. 2 July 1954; mandolin, acoustic guitar, vocals), Charlie Arrington (b. 1893, d, day unfamiliar; fiddle), Roy Hardison (b. William Roy Hardison, 19 July 1896, Maury Region, Tennessee, USA, d. 11 Feb 1966; banjo) and Burt Hutcherson (b. 1894, d. 10 July 1980; acoustic guitar). Warmack went his personal car restoration business, Hardison was a garage area foremen, Arrington a farmer and Hutcherson a woodworker. Hardison sometimes played with additional groups and ahead of becoming a member of Warmack and Hutcherson experienced previously used Dr. Humphrey Bate’s Possum Hunters. Aside from their Sunday night place, Warmack and Hutcherson also broadcast an early-morning WSM display because the Early Parrots. In Oct 1928, once the Victor Organization made a decision to record a number of the early Opry functions, the Gully Jumpers became among the 1st rings to record in Nashville (Victor in fact recorded 69 edges but just 36 were released). The very first record released by Victor, which consequently had the variation of being the very first commercially released Nashville documenting by a main label, was Paul Warmack AS WELL AS THE Gully Jumpers’ ‘Tennessee Waltz’ (not really the favorite Pee Wee Ruler / Redd Stewart structure) and ‘The Small Crimson Caboose Behind The Teach’ (Victor V-40067). The music group also documented four instrumentals but just two, ‘Robertson State’ and ‘Rock Rag’, had been released plus they made no more recordings. The Gully Jumpers continued to be using the Opry for twenty years until, following loss of life of some people of varied Opry rings, the administration effected mergers of the rest of the musicians. Hutcherson trained electric guitar in Nashville for quite some time.
