Paul Rubens

b. Paul Alfred Rubens, 29 Apr 1875, London, Britain, d. 25 Feb 1917, Falmouth, Cornwall, Britain. Scion of the rich family members, Rubens wrote tracks while their studies at Oxford College or university. Although musically untrained, when still in his teenagers Rubens got a tune, ‘The Small Chinchilla’, interpolated in to the Shop Young lady (1894), a greatly successful present at George Edwardes’ Gaiety Theater. Rubens continued to create tracks and his ‘Me Gettee Outee Velly Quick’ was interpolated into another Edwardes present, San Gadget (1899). His extra tracks for Floradora (1899) produced his name and Edwardes continuing to include Rubens’ tracks to other displays. Among we were holding The Messenger Boy (1900), The Toreador (1901), A Nation Girl and THE LADY From Kays (both 1902), THE INSTITUTION Young lady (1903), The Blue Moon as well as the Cingalee (both 1904). Mainly, Rubens’ songs had been written in cooperation with others, including his sibling Walter Rubens, Landon Ronald and, later on, Harry Graham, Percy Greenbank, Howard Talbot and Arthur Wimperis. Motivated by the achievement of individual tunes, Rubens wrote publication, music and lyrics for three displays, Three Small Maids (1902), Woman Madcap (1904), and Mr Popple Of Ippleton (1905). He collaborated on music and lyrics for The Dairymaids (1906), and on the publication for Miss Hook Of Holland (1907), also composing music and lyrics. He published music for My Mimosa Maid (1908), publication, music and lyrics for Dear Small Denmark (1909), and the next 12 months collaborated on music and lyrics for The Balkan Princess. He collaborated thoroughly on SUNLIGHT Lady (1912) and THE LADY From Utah (1913) before completing another mainly solo work, 1914’s FOLLOWING THE Lady, with some the help of Greenbank. He published the publication for Tina (1915) with Graham who also caused him on lyrics, as do Greenbank. The music was finished in cooperation with Haydn Solid wood. Throughout his existence Rubens was sickly and even though in seriously faltering health he done The Happy Day time (1916). He previously formed a detailed connection with Phyllis Dare who experienced starred in SUNLIGHT Lady, a 1914 revival of Miss Hook Of Holland and Tina. They hoped to marry, but alert to his possible early demise forgotten their programs. Although Rubens’ tunes admirably appropriate the light-hearted displays in which these were presented, most had been ephemeral. One though, from your Messenger Boy, resided on: ‘Inform Me Pretty Maiden (ANY KIND OF More IN THE HOME AS IF YOU?)’.
