Paul Lingle was an area legend in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA through the 1940s. A talented stride pianist who also performed ragtime, Lingle was a lover of Jelly Move Morton. He began playing piano when he was six and 1st worked expertly in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA within the 1920s. Lingle was Al Jolson’s accompanist in the past due ’20s, documenting the soundtrack of a few of his 1st sound movies. He spent the 1930s employed in radio along with Al Zohn’s jazz music group in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. Through the Dixieland revival from the 1940s, Lingle initially was a piano tuner in Santa Cruz, but by 1944 was playing in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA clubs, generally single. When Leadbelly and Bunk Johnson approved through city, they both requested him. In 1952, Lingle relocated to Honolulu where he continuing playing until his loss of life. Regrettably, he was hesitant to record throughout his profession and his just studio session led to just eight tunes cut once and for all Period Jazz in 1952. Nevertheless, three . 5 albums of personal tapes from 1951-1952 had been released posthumously within the Euphonic label that enable listeners to obtain a fuller picture of Paul Lingle’s skill.
