Jazz composer/saxophonist Paul Cram was created on August 11, 1952, in Victoria, Uk Columbia. At age eight, Cram and his family members relocated to Vancouver, where in fact the youngster first used the clarinet, then your tenor saxophone (motivated by the fantastic John Coltrane). Playing in a number of local rings during his teenage years, Cram enrolled in to the School of United kingdom Columbia through the early ’70s, where he graduated using a bachelor’s amount of music in 1978. During his university years, Cram started writing his very own compositions in addition to collaborating with various other musicians, resulting in the forming of the brand new Orchestra Quintet and the brand new Orchestra Workshop. By 1982, Cram was prepared to give it a try by himself, as he produced the Paul Cram Trio and have scored a Juno-nominated record exactly the same calendar year with Blue Stories with time. Subsequently, Cram produced other Toronto-based clothes, like the Solar Program Saxophone Quartet, the Kings of Sming, the Paul Cram Quintet, the Paul Cram Orchestra, and Hemispheres (the last mentioned which was a 15-piece ensemble). 1987 noticed the discharge of Cram’s second record (and second to become nominated for the Juno Prize), Beyond Benghazi, before Cram and his family members relocated in 1989 to Halifax. Soon after his entrance in his recently used hometown, Cram shaped another new clothing, Upstream, who released their debut documenting in 1992, Open up Waters. Additionally, Cram toured within the Cram/Ellis Duo and he became the professional director from the Sming Productions Business, which produces unique ratings for film, video, media, theatre, and dance. 2001 noticed the discharge of the live album from the Paul Cram Orchestra, entitled Campin Out.
