Patti Wicks

Blessed in Islip, NY, Patti Wicks is a vocalist/pianist in the custom of Jeri Southern, Nina Simone and Shirley Horn.While their studies at Crane School of Music at Potsdam, NY in the later 1960’s, Wicks heard the trumpet of a John LaBarbera which experience connected her on the profession in jazz. Shifting to NYC in 1969, Wicks continued to business lead a trio of Brian Torff on bass and drummer Curtis Boyd. Torff afterwards became George Shearing’s regular bassist. Wicks also performed in small groupings which included famous brands drummer Alan Dawson and bass players Sam Jones and Richard Davis. While in NYC, she interested at lots of the city’s even more important jazz areas, including Bradleys’. Wicks transferred to West Hand Seaside, FL in 1977 where for quite some time she played on the Jazz Display, among the main jazz home in the region.
