Biography

One of the songs composed by this Irish-American bandmaster were “Freedom over the Old Plantation,” “The Spirit from the North,” and “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.” Gilmore’s Grand Boston Band, which he arranged, enlisted within the Union Military through the American Civil Battle.
