Theo Hakola’s name will most likely not be contained in any historical accounts of musicians from your Pacific Northwest, however the former vocalist for the People from france band Enthusiasm Fodder is in fact from Spokane, WA. Hakola created Enthusiasm Fodder in 1984 in Paris, France, with Lionel Dollet (acoustic guitar), Pascal Humbert (drums), Benedicte Villain (violin), and later on Jean-Yves Tola (drums). The group was authorized to Beggars Banquet within the U.K., and their debut LP, Extra fat Wednesday, was distributed within the U.S. by Isle Information in 1988. Merging the Velvet Underground’s droning guitars and screeching violins using the uncooked energy of punk rock and roll as well as the alcohol-fueled melancholia of early nation records, Enthusiasm Fodder’s music defied categorization.
