Bentoiu studied tranquility, counterpoint and structure with Jora and piano with Demetriescu. He spent 3 years exploring the tempo and tranquility of Romanian folk music in the Bucharest Folklore Institute and started composing for the stage. His operas are created with dramatic flair and utilize a variety of components, including folksong, tape, serialism and diatonicism. His instrumental and orchestral functions also include a variety of modern methods, and Bentoiu’s function is seen as a its color and lyricism.
