London noise rock and roll trio Parakeet formed in 2011 like a side task for members of like-minded bands Yuck and the annals of Apple Pie. Mariko Doi from Yuck required the part of business lead vocalist and bassist, Wayne Thomas from the annals of Apple Pie performed drums, and both songwriters curved out the trio with guitarist Jon Jackson, previously from the lesser-known Loverman. The band’s tunes were in an identical ’90s-steeped, fuzz-heavy vein as Yuck’s, but with much less acoustic guitar mutilation and even more concentrate on candy-coated pop melodies and friendly hooks. In early 2012 their tunes began to show up online, using the Tomorrow 7″ pursuing in Apr. An EP entitled Shonen Hearts made an appearance later in the entire year, obtainable first like a limited-edition cassette.
