After a storied career that included longer stints with Loss of life in Vegas and Thrashing Doves, guitarist/songwriter/producer Ian Button began assembling the highly conceptual collective band Papernut Cambridge in the first 2010s, taking inspiration from an especially vivid dream he previously decades earlier in regards to a colorful pop band. Performing as the guts of the group, Key breathed lifestyle into his compositions by using a large number of musician close friends, channeling the swagger of ’70s glam rock and roll as well simply because the melodic songcraft of ’90s Brit-pop heroes like Supergrass and Blur. The collective’s initial record, Cambridge Nutflake, found its way to 2013 over the Gare du Nord label. Ever mixed up in studio, Button held up a prolific discharge schedule, with brand-new albums arriving each year amid several singles and minimal releases for another many years. Among we were holding 2014’s critically lauded THERE IS NO Underground, 2015’s Nutlets 1967-80, and a 2016 collaborative 7″ with Darren Hayman.
