Paper Doll was one of the short-lived groupings/performers overseen by Patrick Adams and Peter Dark brown, both legendary disco maestros who formed Harlem’s P&P label and several satellite imprints within the mid-’70s. Made by Dark brown, the “Obtain Down Boy” one premiered in 1979 on Heavenly Superstar. Highlighted by exuberant feminine vocals, a wickedly taut synth series, some weird remedies over the drums, and amazingly elegant details of strings, the melody boasts among the speedier tempos made by the P&P camp. In addition, it doubles as you of its buried treasures and really should have been popular on adventurous r / c throughout the world. Though its primary vinyl incarnation is normally all but difficult to locate, the Counterpoint label included it on 1997’s Disco Juice compilation, which anthologized Adams and Brown’s unbiased work.
