Paolo Nonnis

Paolo Nonnis is perhaps most obviously for leading a large band within the 1990s which was stylistically near to the one that Friend Rich had through the 1960s and ’70s. Created in Italy, Nonnis began playing drums when he was 14 and relocated to america in 1977. He considers his early affects to have already been Gene Krupa, Joe Morello, and Maximum Roach. Nonnis performed a multitude of music within the Los Angeles region and in the first ’80s led a rock and roll big music group; among his perhaps most obviously associations like a sideman had been the Al Raymond Big Music group along with a Stan Kenton tribute orchestra led by Dick Shearer. He led a pal Rich tribute music group (that included Steve Marcus) throughout a tour of Italy in 1989, creating a documenting. Nonnis had a chance to play drums using the real Buddy High Big Music group during Oct 1989 through Apr 1990; Rich experienced passed on in 1987. Soon after departing that orchestra, Nonnis (who’s also a occupied jazz educator and clinician) created his personal big music group, which documented two CDs for the united states label — Simply with time and Stage on the Gas — during 1990-1992. Among his sidemen within the recordings are saxophonists Steve Marcus, Kim Richmond, Louis Taylor, and Randall Willis; trumpeter Clay Jenkins; and pianist Brian O’Rourke.
