A far more beat-oriented solo task for guitarist/vocalist Tag Nelson of Labradford, Skillet American debuted using a self-titled album in Chicago’s Kranky Information in 1998. Nelson after that recorded a monitor for the United kingdom experimental digital label Body fat Cat’s Divide series, and in addition performed live with pedal metal genius B.J. Cole. His second Skillet American LP, 360 Business/360 Bypass, made an appearance in early 2000 with collaborations from Chicago trumpeter Rob Mazurek as well as the people of Low. Some split CDs implemented, including 2001’s Personal Configurations: Preset 1, and Nelson came back to his full-length initiatives using the stripped-down 2002 work The River Produced No Audio. Released 2 yrs later, Quiet Town cut back the textured levels of Skillet American’s earlier materials, while White Parrot Release made an appearance in 2008. For Apr 2013’s Cloud Area, Glass Area, Nelson enlisted fellow Labradford alumnus Bobby Donne on bass and percussionist Steven Hess.
