Palmistry

Through the 2010s, London-based producer/vocalist Palmistry (Benjamin Keating) received acclaim for his innovative mixture of dancehall, alternative R&B, and grime. His airy, melancholy tracks combine components of modern Caribbean rhythms (with performers like Vybz Kartel and Popcaan becoming significant affects) and ambient synthesizer textures, along with Keating’s softly sung introspective lyrics about loneliness and heartache. Palmistry 1st surfaced in 2011 having a self-released EP entitled Cut. In 2012, he released a mixtape entitled I Swear and created NXB, the debut recording by Triad God (Vietnam-born rapper Vinh Soi Ngan). He became a member of Dre Skull’s Mixpak label in 2013, debuting using the solitary “Capture.” Palmistry’s Lil Gem EP on Lorenzo Senni’s Presto!? label, the Mixpak solitary “Protector SE5,” as well as the self-released EP Ascensión all found its way to 2014. He also collaborated with Sunless ’97 to get a song entitled “Aia.” The solitary “Memory space Taffeta” made an appearance in 2015, and his debut recording, Pagan, premiered in 2016.
