Fronted by the favorite guitarist Gabby Pahiuni, the Brothers revived the almost-forgotten art of Hawaiian metal guitar playing. Although Gabby was a big success in Hawaii, he was fairly obscure around the mainland until he was found out by Ry Cooder in the 1970s. As well as Cooder, Gabby and his family members recorded Chicken Pores and skin Music, an recording that combined slack acoustic guitar tuning with bluesy rock and roll. Since Gabby’s loss of life in 1980, the music group has continued to execute and record and offers incorporated components from country, spirit, and reggae into its audio.
