Ozzie Kotani

Not only is it among Hawaii’s most renowned players from the ki ho`alu (a slack essential electric guitar instrument), Ozzie Kotani can be a instructor, arranger, and composer. Blessed in 1956, Kotani grew up in Pauoa, a community of Honolulu, and uncovered music when he found the ukulele while still in primary school. It had been during senior high school that Kotani’s musical curiosity considered the ki ho`alu, after he noticed slack essential guitar professional Keola Beamer on the air. During 1975, he begun to significantly study the device at the School of Hawaii Carrying on Education Plan, and soonafter began monitoring with renowned participant/instructor Sonny Chillingworth (Kotani ultimately taught the device at the same college in 1986). In 1988, Kotani released his all-instrumental debut record, Classical Slack, which blended originals with Hawaiian criteria, nonetheless it wasn’t until 1995 that Kotani released his sophomore work, Kani Ki Ho Alu (which translated means “The Audio of Slack Essential”), and started working on piecing together an instructional reserve/cassette tape. Subsequently, Kotani provides appeared on many compilation produces in the past due ’90s, including Ki Ho Alu Xmas, Hawaiian Slack Essential Guitar Experts, Vol. 2, and Hawaiian Slack Essential Christmas.
