Ozone

Ozone was formed in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, in 1977 by 3 former members from the funk music group the Efforts, Benny Wallace, Jimmy Stewart and Charles Glenn. This trio recruited Thomas Bumpass, William Light, Ray Woodard, Greg Hargrove and Paul Hines to provide them instrumental and vocal support. The group perfected a variety of up-tempo dance materials and intimate ballads which was intensely influenced with the Commodores, plus they had been signed to exactly the same record label as their mentors in 1979. Motown originally utilized Ozone as support musicians for performers including Billy Preston and Syreeta, before permitting them to record the very first in some low-key albums in 1980. The instrumental ‘Walk On’ brought them a short taste of graph achievement, but like their following black-music strikes, it didn’t cross over in to the pop market.
