Ottilie Patterson

b. Anna-Ottilie Patterson, 31 January 1932, Comber, Co. Down, North Ireland. Patterson could very well be best known on her behalf long-time association with Chris Barber, after that her husband, within the 50s and 60s. With Barber she sang jazz and blues but she was also an achieved folk singer. Varying outside popular areas, she also made up music to accompany poetry. For a few years she was appreciated through ill wellness to drop her singing profession, but later came back to the level to the joy of her many enthusiasts. An engaging vocalist, with a solid, earthy delivery that lends itself well towards the blues plus some areas of the jazz songbook, on her behalf folk performing she was often able to adapt to a far more pensive strategy. A shiny and bubbling character, she actually is at her greatest in live shows and it has been captured in marvelous form on several live albums with the Barber band.
