Oscar Woods

b. 1900, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA, d. 1956, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. Small is well known about Oscar ‘Friend’ Woods, who was simply probably one of the most amazing from the pre-war slip acoustic guitar blues stylists. He was carefully connected with Ed Schaffer with whom he documented because the Shreveport House Wreckers in Memphis in the first 30s. In 1932, he and Schaffer got part in that which was probably among the 1st integrated sessions if they lent their vocal and instrumental skills to aid risqué country vocalist Jimmie Davis, later on governor of Louisiana and well-known for ‘You Are My Sunlight’. Woods documented some master singular paths in 1936, in New Orleans, beneath the pseudonym from the Lone Wolf and later on presented with Kitty Grey and others because the Wampus Pet cats. Finally, in 1940, he documented five paths for Alan Lomax from the Library Of Congress. He also caused B.K. Turner, ‘The Dark Ace’, and was last heard about employed in the Shreveport region around the past due 40s/early 50s.
