Orwell

French pop music group Orwell was founded by frontman Jérôme Didelot in 2000 in Nancy, France. Alongside original associates Thierry Bellia and Alexandre Longo (both of whom continued to form rings of their very own, Range Laboratory and Cascadeur, respectively), Didelot released Orwell’s initial work, a self-titled EP, that same season. A bright mix of synth pop, chamber pop, and indie rock and roll, Orwell’s music recalled rings like Stereolab, Phoenix, and Sloan, in addition to Sean Lennon’s single function. After issuing recordings in Japan and France, Hidden Plan released their 2002 debut full-length, Pursuing Times (Des Lendemains), which highlighted efforts from Mederic Gontier of fellow French music group Tahiti 80 and multi-instrumentalist Fugu. A set of albums had been released in the next years — L’Archipel (2005) and Le Genie Humain (2007) — and a compilation, Nouvelles D’Hier (2009), that was targeted at wooing a global target audience. Their English-language discovery, Continental, made an appearance in 2011. The LP included Krautrock taste plus some German performing, along with the 1st instance an Orwell recording was performed nearly entirely in British. Four years and an EP later on, they returned making use of their 5th recording, Exposition Universelle. Furthermore to Didelot, the up to date Orwell lineup included Jacques Tellitocci (vibraphone, vocals), Regis Nesti (drums), and Emmanuel Harang (bass), who have been became a member of by flutist and pianist Renaldo Greco.
