Orrin Keepnews

Perhaps one of the most respected of most jazz manufacturers, Orrin Keepnews had an extended and productive profession. He graduated from Columbia School in 1943 and was originally mainly thinking about Dixieland. Keepnews composed for The Record Changer beginning in 1948, that was began by his friend Costs Grauer. Four years afterwards he helped reissue ’20s recordings with Grauer if they began RCA Victor’s X label. Keepnews and Grauer founded the Riverside label in 1953, and shortly Keepnews became thinking about newer jazz designs. The label have scored a coup if they registered Thelonious Monk in 1955, and various other important artists made by Keepnews for Riverside through the following 10 years included Wes Montgomery, Costs Evans, and Cannonball Adderley, most of whom do a few of their finest function under the manufacturers’ creative assistance.
