Led by blind tres guitarist Arsenio Rodriguez, Orquestra Casino De La Playa offered as the schooling ground for upcoming Latin stars Perez Prado, percussionist Mongo Santamaria, and vocalist Miguelito Valdes. Produced in Havana, Cuba, in 1937, the group relocated to Mexico Town in 1948.
