Original Sin

Although several different groups have laid claim to the moniker at onetime or another, Lengthy Island, NY’s Initial Sin even now stand apart among the few all-female thrash metallic bands to emerge throughout that style’s ’80s apogee (crosstown rivals Meanstreak being another). Initial Sin users Danielle Draconis (vocals), Cynthia Taylor (acoustic guitar), Pandora Fox (bass), and Darlene Destructo (drums) had been brought together beneath the patronage of Virgin Steele vocalist David Defeis (rumor offers it Draconis was, actually, his sister), who also penned a few of their materials, and no question affected their melodic songwriting design, which crossed over into velocity metal on periodic. Unfortunately, Initial Sin’s lone recording, 1986’s Sin WILL SEE You Out (also made by Defeis, normally), was a fairly gimmicky affair, weighty on gratuitous Satanism and intimate exploitation (informing song game titles included “Bitches from Hell,” “Succubus,” “Pandora’s Package” and “Enchantress of Loss of life”) — which sidetracked listeners from your band’s quite reputable musicianship. Insufficient support using their record label, Cobra Information, later sealed Initial Sin’s fate, as well as the four had evidently already eliminated their separate methods by 1987.
