Orcustus

Just one more Norwegian black steel supergroup, Orcustus were formed in the town of Bergen (where else?) by vocalist/guitarist Taipan (of Amok, Taake, and various other groupings), guitarists/bassists Tormentor and Infernus (both from Gorgoroth), and drummer Dirge Rep (of Gorgoroth, Enslaved, Aura Noir, etc., etc.). You start with its 2002 demonstration, which was limited by 1,000 copies before getting reissued on vinyl fabric by Southern Lord, the group quickly ingratiated itself with both “trve” black steel faithful and significant tastemakers like Darkthrone’s Fenriz. However the parallel musical efforts of those included kept everyone therefore active that Orcustus’ just output over another couple of years entailed a two-track one, cleverly called Wrathrash. Finally, though, the founding quartet discovered a while to record an album’s well worth of materials that eventually surfaced in early 2009 through Southern Lord as Orcustus’ belated eponymous debut.
