Orchestre Maquis Original du Zaire

Maquis began in 1966 seeing that Orchestre Super Gabby, an organization formed by some little Zairean music artists. In 1972, the music group transformed its name to Orchestre Maquis du Zaire and shifted to Tanzania, where they truly became quite popular therefore made a decision to stay. Today, having a regular membership of over 40 music artists, they remain probably one of the most well-known rings in Tanzania. Founding member and bandleader Chinyama Chianza passed away in 1985, with guitarist Nguza Mbangu (aka Viking) overtaking the music group. He went single in 1987, with guitarist Dekula Kahanga (aka Vumbi) acquiring his place and revitalizing the music group along with his sharp-edged sound.
